Der Klassiker yesterday didn’t quite go as Borussia Dortmund would’ve wanted, with Lucien Favre’s men going down 1-0 at home to Bayern Munich at home. It was BVB’s first league loss at the Westfalenstadion in the current 2019/20 season, and effectively extinguished their slim title hopes, with Hansi Flick’s Bayern now seven points clear at the top.
Dortmund had a different shirt sponsor for this game, with the Medox logo appearing on the front of the jersey. We thought it a little bizarre that long term primary sponsors Evonik would give up their space on the shirt in what was effectively Dortmund’s last league Klassiker with them (BVB will be shifting to 1&1 next season), but a little bit of research revealed that Medox was also an Evonik product and the jersey had the words “An Evonik Product” as a smaller line beneath the bigger Medox wording.
