Week 4 Kit Battle- Gladbach buck the trend

Another Bundesliga weekend done, and this time, it was a fantastic weekend for teams on the road. 8 of the nine teams on the road either won or drew their away games. The only home team to be victorious were Borussia Monchengladbach, who beat Macron outfitted Arminia Bielefeld in the final game of the weekend. A good result for MGB after their disappointing 2-1 loss to Union Berlin in the previous round.

Week 4- Results and Kit Battles

Leverkusen (Jako) 3-4 Dortmund (Puma)
Union (Adidas) 0-0 Augsburg (Nike)
Freiburg (Nike) 1-1 Cologne (Uhlsport)
Hoffenheim (Joma) 0-2 Mainz (Kappa)
Greuther Furth (Puma) 0-2 Wolfsburg (Nike)
Leipzig (Nike) 1-4 Bayern (Adidas)
Frankfurt (Nike) 1-1 Stuttgart (Jako)
Bochum (Nike) 1-3 Hertha (Nike)
Gladbach (Puma) 3-1 Arminia (Macron)

The pick of week 4’s games was obviously the one on the very top of our list- Leverkusen in Jako at home against Puma outfitted Dortmund. Matches between these two sides have tended to be goal heavy in recent years- one has to go back to 2017 for the last fixture that produced under 2.5 goals. This was no exception- a seven goal thriller for the neutrals, with Dortmund coming from behind three times to win. It pushed Marco Rose’s men to third in the table and also laid the foundation for them get their Champions League campaign off in style- BVB debuted a new neon Cup jersey in Turkey against Besiktas.

There was only one goalless draw in the entire set of fixture, and that was in the Union-Berlin Augsburg fixture, that ended in a stalemate. Both teams created enough chances (1.56 and 1.49 xG), but weren’t able to convert it into something concrete.

The top of the table remained the same- Wolfsburg had finished the previous week as toppers, and retained their position with a nice 2-0 win over Greuther Furth.

However Wolfsburg’s win did affect the bottom of the standings. Their triumph, plus Hertha’s away victory at Bochum saw Furth drop to last among the 18 teams that play in the Bundesliga. Hertha’s 3-1 win took them off the bottom and saw them earn their first points of the campaign, meaning that every team in the league now has at least a single point to their name. Interestingly, Hertha’s opponents next week will be Furth!

Leipzig against Bayern promised to be a heavyweight clash, but the Bavarians instead cruised to a 4-1 triumph away at the Red Bull Arena. That’s three wins on the bounce for Julian Nagelsmann’s men after their opening round draw, and they remain second behind Van Bommel’s Wolfsburg.
