This is the new Glentoran jersey 2017/2018, Glentoran FC’s new home kit for the upcoming NIFL Premiership season. The Glens today (July 9, 2017) launched their new Kappa designed strip with a visit to 16, Burren Way (the Belfast childhood home of the legendary George Best)
Glentoran, part of the Belfast big two along with reigning NIFL champions Linfield, had a disappointing 2016/17 season, finishing 9th with just 46 (Linfield won the league with 89).
In 1982 (Glentoran’s centenary year), Best played for the Glens in a friendly against his old team, Manchester United.
The new kit sticks to the Glens’ traditional red, black and green colours and is sponsored by Bet McLean
A really nice kit.
Very unusual looking outfit, don’t mind it, striking & stands out.
Kappa getting a lot of UK contracts this season. Usually, their kits aren’t made for the adipose-enhanced supporter but this is a fairly loose cut all round. The keeper top has a retro jersey-style cut.
George Best’s links to Glentoran go well beyond one appearance in the 80s BTW- he grew up supporting them.
