Australian A-League side Central Coast Mariners have unveiled a special limited edition “Surf Life saving” jersey that they will wear in their F3 derby against Newcastle Jets on 28 February, 2016.
Made by Italian firm Kappa, the kit is a tribute to Surf Life Saving Central Coast, and 10% from the sale of every shirt will be donated to them. CCM currently have former Liverpool and Barcelona forward Luis Garcia in their ranks.
The Mariners’ opponents for this weekend’s clash, the Jets, had also revealed a special “Airforce” jersey for their clash against the Roar.
CC Mariners have had a pretty wretched season so far, having picked up just 12 points from a possible 60. They are, as you’d expect, at the bottom of the A-League table, with leaders Western Sydney Wanderers having almost thrice as many points at this stage of the season.
Currently, the Mariners’ home 5-1 loss to Melbourne City is also the league’s worst attended game for 2015/16, drawing just over 4,500 spectators.
The strip uses the red and yellow colours (red and yellow shirt and red shorts) that are worn by lifesavers on the Central Coast.
