These are the new Cardiff City kits 14/15, Cardiff’s new home and away tops for the upcoming 2014/2015 Championship season. The Bluebirds were relegated from the 2013/14 Premier League after finishing bottom of the table and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who only took over the reigns of the club in January this year, will be hoping for an immediate return to the top flight. Designed and supplied by Cosway Sports, the new Cardiff 2014/15 shirts were officially unveiled on 7 July, 2014.
The home kit controversially continues to be red while the away kit is blue, as can be seen in the pics below. The home shorts are white in colour, a departure from last season’s black.
Cardiff originally switched to red kits in the 2012/13 season, and earned immediate promotion to the2013/14 Premier League season, leading their new owner Vincent Tan to claim that he had changed the club’s luck by changing its colours.
However the change wasn’t quite able to keep them up in the top tier of English football. Competition is immense amongst the 20 teams that constitute the division and with most of them backed by deep pockets, no game is a given. Red alone cannot win matches, and Cardiff City’s recent relegation from the Premier League means that the Bluebirds will have it all to do again this season in the Championship.
Cosway Sports is linked with Vincent Tan, and for Bluebirds fans against the change, it makes buying shirts a more tough decision for them. The kits were earlier made by Puma, but with the Cosway change, many of them aren’t quite sure whether they should even buy the club’s alternate kit, in their beloved blue colour, as money would effectively go into the coffers of corporations owned by Tan, indirectly showing their support for him.
The away uniform was first worn in a pre-season friendly against Carmarthen Town.
