Portuguese giants FC Porto have inked a contract extension with kit partners New Balance that will see the Boston based firm outfit FCP till 2024. The relationship between the two parties began in the 2014/15 season and merchandise sales for the club have grown 91% since 2014, according to data released.
Porto lost in the Round of 16 of the Champions League to another NB team, Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are one of two NB teams in the last eight of the tournament, the other being Sevilla, who upset Manchester United at Old Trafford. After nearly a month of knockout action, the last eight of the Champions League will be determined by this final set of midweek clashes. Four teams have already booked their spot- Liverpool (New Balance), Man City (Nike) and Juventus & Real Madrid (both Adidas).
We could have another New Balance team in the last eight if Sevilla upset Man Utd at Old Trafford. Barca-Chelsea and Roma-Shakhtar are both all-Nike clashes, while German champions Bayern (wearing Adidas) are all but certain to advance to the quarters after their 5-0 first leg win over Turkish giants Besiktas.
