This is the new Rapid Vienna home shirt 2015/16, Austrian club SK Rapid’s new principal uniform for the upcoming Bundesliga season. Rapid finished 2nd in Austria during the 14/15 season and have managed to make it to the third qualifying round of the Champions League along with champions Red Bull Salzburg.
The shirt, featuring two tones of green, will serve as Rapid’s home kit for both the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons- a refreshing change in an age where kits are normally not expected to last beyond a single season.
Rapid’s last Austrian Bundesliga title came way back in the 2007-08 season, with Salzburg taking five of the seven titles on offer since. Since then, they have been trophyless, something that manager Zoran Barisic will be keen to rectify in the 15/16 season.

Ordinary kit, but unique kit pics. Some of the players don’t seem to be too sure of what’s going on.
@Sean
Have to agree, those pictures are weird. The guy on the far left (#1) looks clueless from every angle.
What’s all that about? Something to do with the history of the club.?Players will trip up in the white frock. Lol. Shirt ok but sponsor spoils it yet again.
It’s because Vienna used to be an imperial city and these pictures are taken in front of the former summer residence of the Habsburg royal family. The guy is dressed as Franz Joseph I the Emperor of Austria from 1848 to 1916 and the woman is dressed as his wife Elisabeth commonly known as Sisi. Now, it seems to me that this is supposed to be funny, you know like Rapid is so awesome that even the royals support them. Then again, Rapid Vienna is actually a working-class club or initially was one, so I’m also a bit confused.
Would make a good Manchester United away kit with yellow and green Stripes and black trim in my view to signify the link with Newton Heath but with a modern feel.
Do you think each player in the photographs is thinking “Am I the only person who can see the dude in the moustache and his wife? I’m never having those mushrooms again.”
Kit’s alright too. Lots of sponsors though.
