The FIGC (Italian Football Federation) have today (March 9, 2022) confirmed that Adidas will be the national team’s new kit suppliers beginning 2023. The Italy soccer Adidas jersey deal brings to an end the Azzurri’s current long-running contract with Puma, which began around 20 years ago.
Should they qualify for the World Cup (there is a playoff to negotiate), Italy’s World Cup 2022 kits will be made by Puma, and not by Adidas. The Puma deal for the reigning European Championship holders will end after the World Cup this winter in Qatar.
No official figures were given, but it is reported that the deal is a significant improvement over the 19m euro a year that Puma were paying the Azzurri.
Italy wore Adidas for a brief period in the 1970’s, and this marks their return to the famed three stripes.
