Exeter City have signed a new shirt sponsorship deal with floor coverings retailer Carpetright that will see the latter become the Grecians’ primary kit sponsors beginning the 2020/21 season. The deal is for a period of three years, meaning it will also cover the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.
Exeter were on the lookout for a new sponsor after their current sponsor- airline Flybe, went into administration following the coronavirus pandemic. Flybe’s association with Exeter dates back to 2003, and their 17 year deal is one of the longest for a Football League club. The two parties had last inked an extension back in 2018 which was to run till the end of the current 2019/20 season.
Carpetright CEO Wilf Walsh was born in Exeter and is a ECFC season ticket holder. The deal will also see the company contribute £500 to grassroots football for every Exeter win.
The Grecians are currently fourth in League Two, four points behind table toppers Crewe, and are aiming to return to the third division for the first time since 2011.
