This is the new Ireland home jersey 2017/18, the Republic of Ireland’s new principal strip for the upcoming international season. This is the first kit for the Republic by Boston, MA based New Balance, who replace Umbro as uniform partners. Umbro’s partnership with the FAI dates back to 1994, when they replaced Adidas.
However both Umbro and New Balance have the same distributor in Ireland- TopLion, and this switch is apparently a strategic decision on the latter’s part. TopLion’s contract with the FAI expires in 2020.
The new Ireland New Balance shirt will be first seen in action next month when Martin O’Neill’s side take on Georgia and Serbia in two crunch World Cup 2018 qualifiers. The 3 logo appears on the front of the jersey, as can be seen in the pics below.
Ireland are currently second in Group D, with the same number points as group leaders Serbia (12 from 6 games) but behind them on goal difference.
