This is the new Italy away shirt 2016/17, the Italian national team’s new alternate shirt for their games in the 2016/2017 season. Made by Puma and officially unveiled in Bari’s Piazza del Ferrarese on 31 August, 2016, the strip was worn in the Azzurri’s recent fixtures against France (friendly) and Israel (World Cup qualifier). Giampiero Ventura’s side lost the fixture to France 3-1, but won by the same scoreline in Haifa against Israel. Ventura has taken over from Antonio Conte, who quit after Euro 2016 to take up the Chelsea job
The shirt’s predominantly white, but there’s a change in the secondary colour from Azzurri blue to navy. The design is a hark back to the 2006 design, the year when Italy won the World Cup. 2016 marks the 10th anniversary of that famous triumph in Berlin.
