This is the new FC Tokyo kit 2016, Japanese club FC Tokyo’s new home strip for the upcoming J-League season. Made by Umbro, the new kit was officially revealed on November 22, 2015.
FC Tokyo missed out on the 2015 Championship playoffs in heartbreaking fashion. They were held to a 0-0 draw by Sagan Tosu, while Gamba Osaka beat Montedio Yamagata 4-0. Both teams eventually finished on 63 points, but the twin results saw Gamba qualify for the playoffs on points difference at the expense of FC Tokyo.
Individually, FC Tokyo finished second in the first stage of the J1 League, and sixth in the second stage.
The new home blue and red striped jersey features a subtle sun graphic, as can be seen in the pics below. The same vertical striped design continues on the back, with blue shorts and blue and red hooped socks completing the look of the strip.
Tokyo Gas Lifeval are principal jersey sponsors, with Mitsubishi Corporation’s logo also appearing on the back of the shirt.
