New Real Madrid signing Aurelien Tchouameni will take the No.18 jersey for the 2022/23 La Liga season, the club have announced. The No.18 shirt was used by Gareth Bale last season, and became vacant following the Welsh forward’s decision to leave Los Blancos this summer.
Why did Tchouameni choose the No.18 jersey at Real Madrid?
Tchouameni originally wanted the No.8 jersey (he wore 8 at his last club Monaco), but Toni Kroos already had this one allotted to him at Madrid, and the youngster therefore chose the number 18 because “it had eight in it”
