New Greenock Morton Kit 2016-17 | Nike Morton Home Strip 16-17

Click here to see the revised official Greenock Morton home strip for 2016/17, chosen by fan votes

This is what appears to be the new Greenock Morton strip for 2016/17, Morton’s new home top for the upcoming SPFL Championship season. The club finished 5th in the 2015/16 Championship behind champions Rangers, Falkirk, Hibs and Raith Rovers, thus missing out on the playoffs.

The shirt hasn’t been too well received by Morton fans, and a quick glance tells you why. The top uses a standard Nike template (not a deal breaker by itself- many clubs do), but seems to have ignored their signature hoops. Add to that their sponsor (One Pounders), and you get a rather tacky looking top. The shirt will be paired with blue shorts and socks.

Super creative and original! I’m sure the kit is worth more than one pound as well because it’s so amazing!

Can we start a campaign to drive Nike out of football kit design?

Awful! They would need to give me a £1 to take it.

I reckon the new orange/blue checked away is even worse…

That’s by far the crappest shirt sponsor I have ever seen!

This is really cheap and nasty looking. It’s a standard Nike design that doesn’t even include the club’s famous hoops. Imagine if this were green and white and trying to pass it off as the new Celtic kit? Not a chance is this anywhere near good enough to be Morton’s new kit. The blue and white hoops IS Morton. Nothing else will do. As for the sponsors logo, it really cheapens the top even more. It’s an embarrassment.

Morton have not always worn hoops, they’ve had stripes in the past, as well as a sash & even a tartan design.

I don’t mind clubs trying something different as long as they stick to the traditional colours, and this, in all fairness, isn’t a total disaster.

The club are now ‘rethinking’ the new strip following the backlash from fans.

I would love it if Nike would just exit the football business altogether. This disgraceful shirt is an insult to Morton, but also their national shirt designs this year are terrible. Just give up, Nike, you don’t get football at all.

If someone can find a worse sponsor logo than that one, I am happy to send them 1 GBP.

Nike template from few seasons ago.

Its like a Sunday League kit.

A simple smart polo collar and hoops wouldnt go a miss.

I launched the online petition to get rid of this. The club have now started a process to give the fans a choice of 4 bespoke designs to choose From, ensuring that next season’s strip is what the fans want. #Bringbackthehoops

The Morton fans want rid of this design buts its a better look than anything they have had for years ! These are the clowns who came out with preposterous tartan designs a few years ago.
