New Celtic Strip 2016-17- Glasgow Celtic Home Kit 2016-2017 by New Balance

This is the new Celtic top 16/17, Glasgow Celtic’s new home shirt for the upcoming Scottish Premier League season. Made by kit partners New Balance, the new Celtic strip was officially unveiled on 5 May, 2016.

The shirt features a new principal sponsor in the form of Dafabet, who have inked a four year contract with the Hoops. The shirt sponsorship deal is the biggest ever in the history of Scottish football and eclipses all previous deals. Dafabet also have existing deals with Sunderland in the Premier League and Blackburn in the Championship.

Celtic have all but confirmed their fifth straight league title, but were disappointing otherwise in 2015-16, losing to Malmo in CL qualifying and not winning a single game in the Europa League. They also lost in the semifinals of both Cup tournaments to Ross County and Rangers respectively, leading to manager Ronny Deila putting in his papers.

Manufacturers New Balance have attempted a fresh take on the club’s traditional hoops, with golden trim used on the sleeves. “A Club like no Other” is seen inside the collar, with white shorts and green and white hooped socks completing the look of the new strip. The Magners logo goes to the back of the shirt.

    Wonder what part of that biggest ever sponsorship deal can be attributed to Rangers returning to the top flight next season!

    Neat strip by the way, good job from NB.

    Fafabet more like Dafty Bet with Celtic let the joke about Celtic’s new sponsor start the joke will be all over the West of Scotland & all about Celtic & there new sponsor you pass buy the loyalist pubs in The West of Scotland & all you will hate is laughter & the Song Penny Arcade.

    Now on to the top I have seen something like this a good few years ago when Umbro made Celtics kits it was not bad then & it’s not bad now not mutch you can do with a Celtic home kit now is there.

    Goalkeepers top is just kind of a bog standard Celtic Goalkeepers top don’t think it is as creative as what adidas are doing with there Goalkeepers shirts to be honest Celtic should go back to Umbro in my view.

    @Sean

    Our last deal with Magners was also a Scottish record at the time, at a time when The Rangers were in the 2nd or 3rd division.

    The last 5 years have shown that Celtic don’t need The Rangers & vice versa, both clubs can carry on with their own dealings without involving the other.

    I love this kit, especially the subtle colour changes of the green on the hoops, reminiscent of the Calsberg Umbro shirt from 2003/04 (I think) season.

    I don’t like it very much. I’m not fond of the green gradient on the hoops and the collar doesn’t work at all.

    I really like how Celtic maintain the “Hoops” on the back of the shirt and avoid the horrible “plain backs” that many clubs have when they have striped fronts etc.

    Nice kit, shame about the silly little green stripe in the middle of the collar but you can’t have everything !

    That’s a nice looking kit. Good solid hoops on the top. 10/10.

    @Les Glum
    Sorry mate but they will have the white panels on this shirt in Europe..
    It’s the Cheats (UEFA) law.
