New Ireland Euro 2016 Top- Umbro Republic of Ireland Home Shirt 2016/2017

This is the new Ireland Euro 2016 home jersey, the Republic of Ireland’s new principal strip for the upcoming Championships in France and other games in the 2016/17 season. Made by Umbro, the new Irish home top was officially revealed to the public on March 4, 2016.

Ireland will be making their third appearance at the Championships this summer, following previous successful attempts in 1988 and 2012. After finishing third in their group behind champions Germany and formidable Poland, the Republic qualified through a playoff win against Bosnia and Herzegovina, drawing the first leg in Zenica before winning the return fixture 2-0 in Dublin

The predominantly green shirt features a white collar with orange trim, taking inspiration from the colours of the Irish national flag. White shorts and green socks complete the look of the new Irish strip.

Ireland will be in Group E alongside Belgium, Italy and Sweden.

    Why, FA Ireland? You’re the only national federation I can think of who sells ad space on your national team’s jersey, and I think it just ruins it.

    @CJF

    Yep, and the head of the FAI’s salary is greater than the prize money for winning the league. How rotten is that?

    This is a great kit though. Nice Euro’88ish vibe.

    Interesting that the advertisers have used a map showing the whole of Ireland, bearing in mind that N.I. qualified aswell…

    @MisterBlue

    The south of Ireland doesn’t discriminate against the north, also because of special compensation from FIFA, letting players from both the north & south being able to choose which state they play for, Ireland are allowed to use the whole map.

    The politics of Ireland eh?

    I really hope that the away kit is not as dreadful as the last one, seeing as this one is a belter.
